Hub Theatre Company is making a commitment to create a more equitable, inclusive, and welcoming space; a creative space in which BIPOC artists feel safe and respected.
The following actions are just the beginning. We have more to do and even more to learn; we look forward to updating this statement as we do so.
Hub Theatre Company will:
We ask the members of our Boston theatre community and beyond to take these steps with us.
The following actions are just the beginning. We have more to do and even more to learn; we look forward to updating this statement as we do so.
Hub Theatre Company will:
- Create and enforce a zero tolerance policy of oppression, harassment, and discrimination in all forms and have it be a part of all contracts with the company.
- Find new places to post our job/audition postings in order to expand our reach to all minority theatre artists. We will also take further steps in our mission of promoting emerging artists by connecting with local schools and universities for hiring, especially in regards to minority theatre artists.
- Nurture the relationships we have with BIPOC artists and continue to seek out new collaborators.
- Educate ourselves via the multitude of open letters, essays, books, podcasts, etc. to the experience of BIPOC theatre artists and our role in the NEEDED change.
- Utilize our platform to amplify BIPOC voices, including those of actors, designers, administrators, playwrights, etc.; utilize our company to tell a variety of BIPOC stories through works that already exist and works to come.
- Seek feedback from the artists we work with/have worked with to learn where we can do better.
- Explore every avenue to continue to do and be better.
We ask the members of our Boston theatre community and beyond to take these steps with us.
